“We would definitely recommend ZJ Building, we have a couple of friends who are looking to complete a similar project so we have passed on Zak’s details. In terms of efficiency and being able to rely on that definitely makes it a lot easier on us. Project Brief
Scott and Tanya live in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, surrounded by nature, their many animals and two young daughters on a multiple acre property. Their home is a serene escape from busy life… well, the location of their home anyways!
With their daughters growing up and having friends over frequently they felt they didn’t have enough space to host guests or have a moment alone in a full house. Their kitchen was also cramped and uninviting, with very little natural light.
There was previously nothing separating their living and dining space, meaning nowhere for their daughters to retreat with friends or to enjoy a cinematic movie experience without disturbing the household.
The biggest challenge for Scott and Tanya was deciding whether to renovate or extend their home. Once both options were explored with their architect they were able to make changes to best utilise the home’s original layout, adding a separate lounge room and opening up the kitchen without compromising on space.
We were able to simultaneously elevate and utilise both the kitchen and outdoor area by installing a new aluminum bi-fold kitchen servery window, enabling the indoor space to extend and connect with the outdoor entertainment area.
Having a definite time frame and end date for their renovation project was also a high priority for the family. They knew they would be living in the home while the renovation took place, so they couldn’t risk the project being delayed or drawn out longer than they were prepared for. We scheduled the entire project in our online system and they were able to track the progress all from their mobile phones.
Tanya told us they enjoyed the friendly nature of the team and subcontractors. She made special mention of how well they interacted with their two curious daughters while on site. They enjoyed feeling part of the project and learning more about building and different trades. She told us “They [the trades] were more than happy to come and talk to them and explain what they were doing for that day which meant that our daughters were quite excited and could get more engaged in the actual process.”
What stood out about ZJ Building for Scott and Tanya was the communication and support throughout the process. Both Zak and Tim were happy to answer as many questions as possible and kept the family up to date and informed each step of the way.
They now have a home that’s custom suited to their family and their lifestyles. With plenty of space for the kids to enjoy time away with friends, an open, inviting and modern kitchen, beautiful unique finishes and a home well equipped to host and impress guests.
