Home Addition, Glenunga

Project Brief

Greg and Lynne made a move from the Adelaide Hills to Glenunga in hopes of creating their forever home. Their dream was to create a comparatively maintenance-free, sustainable home with enough space for their children and grandchildren to visit.

Keeping the beautiful character and style of their 100+ year old home was essential, whilst making it comfortable and accessible with their long term futures in mind.

They knew exactly what they were after and needed a builder who understood their lifestyle and wishes for their ideal home. Greg told us he began to reconsider their dream when he found that many builders they came across failed to keep their end of the bargain and lacked communication.

Greg and Lynne found ZJ Building through recommendations from those in the building industry as well as previous clients. The feedback they received was about Zak’s attention to detail, incredible interpersonal skills, and how he conducted himself in a business-like fashion. Greg knew he’d found the right builder for them.

Since Greg and Lynne had strong ideas already in place for their future home we had an interior designer and architect come on board to ensure their ideas were made possible. Greg and Lynne were stoked to be introduced to a butlers pantry for the first time, with Greg explaining it – “It means that we can have one heck of a mess behind the scenes and appear elegant with the bench just working perfectly.”

We were able to seamlessly incorporate existing structures and belongings that Greg and Lynne cherished in their home, such as their heritage doors and large table setting and settle chair.

They thoroughly enjoyed using Buildertrend to watch every step along the way. They felt confident in the work schedule and time frame because they were always informed of updates and progress.

Greg and Lynne are extremely happy in their new home. They now have a beautiful space that truly feels like their own, with plenty of room for all of the family to visit and specially designed features to cater to their comfort for many years to come.

This is what Lynne had to say about their new home:

“We’re very aware of the fact that this needed to be an accessible home. Zak has done an extraordinary job of integrating all of those accessible features so you really wouldn’t know that this was a home that was built for people our age. He bent over backwards. He has been an absolute delight to deal with. He, and his entire team.”
