Project Brief
Larissa, a mother of two daughters and two boisterous dogs, lives in a beautiful and unique 1970’s home. Larissa is a busy business owner whose house is not just a home but also a work space.
The bathroom hadn’t been updated for nearly two decades. It was a tight, uncomfortable space, with old woodwork finishings peeling off the walls. Larissa and her family weren’t enjoying the space like they should be – and the state it was in left them feeling disappointed and embarrassed when they entertained friends and family.
Knowing ZJ Building professionally, Larissa already knew of our processes and had seen the results of our work, so she had full confidence that ZJ Building was the right builder for the job!
The bathroom plans were a collaborative effort between Larissa and Zak. There was an initial concern that the selections process would be overwhelming and time consuming, but at ZJ Building, one of our goals is to reduce your stress during your renovation journey, not add to it! So we implemented our systems and made sure the process was as easy as possible. Larissa loved that it was a lot of fun and was grateful that she now gets to enjoy the results of her design choices.
Updating the bathroom was always a top priority for Larissa but there were some small details to the home she was curious about changing also. We discussed these concerns with her and were able to complete some smaller tasks in other areas of the house whilst the bathroom was being completed. New fencing and a gate was installed for better security and safety for her dogs. New lighting was hung in her studio and a new Smeg decorative island range hood was added in the kitchen to create better functionality and elevate the space.
Trust was highly important for Larissa. Her job requires her to be on the road most days so she wouldn’t be home to oversee the project herself. Her biggest concern was her dogs accidentally being let out, especially when it came time for the fencing to be replaced. She mentioned this concern to site manager Tim so we made it a top priority to make sure the dogs were safe.
Our online portal put any fear of missing out at ease, as Larissa was always kept updated and informed, with daily site diaries detailing what progress had been made along with photos.
The process was made even more enjoyable by the friendly and respectful manner of our on-site trades. Larissa was especially impressed by the workmanship and manner of Angelo from M2 Tile and Stone who tiled the bathroom.
With a new layout, the same bathroom that once had peeling walls now feels like a whole new space.
Proving that you don’t need to extend or knock down walls to make a small space, a beautiful space. Larissa and her family now have a beautiful, classic and modernised bathroom they can be proud of, which suits their needs and reflects their personal style.
