Bathroom and Laundry Renovation - Flinders park

Skye and John live in a 1950’s Art Deco house in Flinders Park. After 5 years in their home it became increasingly clear that their bathroom and laundry wasn’t functional at all and was in some serious need of an upgrade! Skye and John love to host their family and friends and often have their guests stay with them. They persisted for as long as they could but the final straw came with their bathroom after the shower head fell off while being used. It was then they decided, something had to change. Their bathroom and laundry just wasn’t a practical use of space, and storage was non-existent. 

This was the first major renovation they had ever undertaken and they had never worked with a builder before. It was a tough and long journey for Skye and John as they tried to navigate the design and build process alone. They engaged a building designer directly and had come up with a design they thought was good. They then had multiple builders come to their home to look at their project but when the quotes and advice varied so much, it only confused them further as to which way to go. 

Skye and John then contacted ZJ Building and during our first meeting, we discovered that what was designed, wasn’t really what they wanted or were expecting. We discussed all the options and Skye and John decided to proceed with a redesign so they could achieve the original vision they had for their home. 

Zak put together the design team and together we collaborated on the new plans to come up with Skye and John’s dream home. Mavtect Designs and TK Designs helped with the building plans and interior design and ZJ Building consulted with costings and buildability along the way.

Life for Sky and John is so much easier now. They are proud of their home and finally have enough hot water for multiple showers in one day!
